Traditional Moroccan for Tanger Fashion Week

Good Morning Classy People,

Tanger Fashion Week began with an intimate private dinner held at Hilton City Center, inside the newly opened Moroccan restaurant, The 56. It was the perfect setting to celebrate the beginning of a new edition, where fashion, culture, and creativity come together in the heart of Tangier.

Whenever we seek to associate fashion with gastronomy, the true challenge lies in discovering how these two worlds can complement one another. Fashion is not only what we wear, and food is not merely what we taste; both are experiences, expressions of identity, and forms of art.

The 56 understands this language beautifully. Its atmosphere avoids the corporate codes of conventional hospitality and instead embraces artistry. Every wall tells a different story through subtle messages and carefully curated drawings. The tables and chairs seem almost dressed themselves, while the breathtaking view offers one of the most beautiful perspectives of Tangier. It is a place where aesthetics are not an afterthought but an essential ingredient.

Since the restaurant celebrates Moroccan cuisine, I naturally decided to celebrate Morocco through my attire. I chose a light caftan rather than a tekchita, knowing that the evening would be filled with movement and encounters. Comfort and elegance had to coexist.

The shade I selected was emerald green, often referred to as royal green in Moroccan culture. This majestic color has long been associated with refinement and is traditionally elevated by golden threadwork. A delicate golden sfifa beldiya adorned the caftan, accompanied by traditional Moroccan gold earrings and golden pumps that completed the silhouette.

The unexpected game changer was something I had not embraced in years: the timeless idba chignon hairstyle.

With only twenty minutes to spare, I stopped by the nearest salon, where Yousra immediately began creating alongside me. Her colleague Zainab perfected the final touch by shaping the bangs, and together we transformed an idea into reality. This is one of the moments I cherish most about getting ready. I love being surrounded by beautiful women whose talent and generosity allow imagination to become something tangible. There is something profoundly empowering in women helping women shine.

And perhaps that is exactly what this dinner symbolized.

Beyond fashion, beyond glamour, beyond the beauty of the evening, the purpose was to rise together.
The designers participating in this edition, the organizers who bring the vision to life, and the sponsors who believe in the importance of Moroccan creativity, all gathered with a shared ambition: to elevate one another.

Because fashion, at its finest, is never about standing above others.

It is about growing together, celebrating together, and illuminating the path for one another.

And what a beautiful way to begin Tanger Fashion Week.
