MARRAKECH / The International Exhibition

 

Hello Classy People,

It was special to finally get to discover an Artistic event made by the Ministry of Culture and Communication of Morocco. L’Association Arts Palmiers pour la Culture et la Solidarité organized the 2019 International Exhibition of Marrakech and gathered different Artists under the same roof. The diversity of different pieces hanging from the ceiling was rewarding, but not all of them caught my attention!

Whenever I attend an event related to Art, I tend to seek originality. We will not ignore the fact that some people are good at creating paintings of photographs or playing it safe by following traditions. My heart beats for uniqueness and shocking visuals, that’s why it’s not common for my taste to be impressed or shacked.

I happily looked at each painting and was thrilled to like these two:

This painting is made by Artist Omar Akesbi, and he exposed it as a piece of his RAINBOW collection. An Amazigh tale describes that Anzar is the god of water who fell in love with a woman while she was bathing in a river. Anzar approached her and wanted her as a wife, but the woman refused because she was afraid of people’s talks. The god of water came back to the skies sad and has decided to stop the rain from pouring, therefore people suffered from drought, and decided to go convince the woman to accept Anzar’s proposal.Anzar has finally married his beloved who was wearing nothing but light colored fabrics, and so he blessed the sky with the RAINBOW.

This painting is made by Artist Omar Arojor, a portrait of Leonardo DaVinci on a background of 20 OCB rolled paper packaging. He is not a smoker himself, but he wanted to mix the presence of a genius personality with the effect of weed that is smoked by the majority of young people. He really didn’t build his piece of Art on a story, because he loves different interpretations.

Generally speaking, the exhibition succeeded to satisfy all tastes and gave the chance to people to exchange their center of interests. Cheers to each person who dreamt of becoming an Artist cheers to each person who makes an effort and cheers to each Artist.
