MARRAKESH / Visit Jemaa El Fna

Good evening Classy People,

I had seen and heard too much dirt about this place in Marrakesh called Jemaa El Fna, from people’s tongues to foreign TV channels documentaries.

I have known this place before I start walking, I’m not an Instagram influencer who will talk about lamps and mint tea on rooftops or a blogger who will talk about dancing snakes and how to negotiate in order to buy something.

I will be sharing words from a local’s angle, so read out loud and let others gain some knowledge.

This place called Jemaa El Fna intrigued international minds because it’s unique in its presentation, diverse in its smell and magical in its atmosphere.

Jemaa El Fna square gathers different people together, so they can hear stories from men whose wisdom is contagious. This square witness talented people who perform street shows under a rain of coins and GUERRABS who serve water to whoever is asking for it!

Jemaa El Fna square value is more than a place where guys with their menus are harassing passers to eat their food, Jemaa El Fna square is more than a place where foreign journalists wander with their hidden cameras to find “sex sellers”, Jemaa El Fna square is more than a place where you can have a Henna Tattoo.

Jemaa El Fna Market sells a variety of products, but be smart and buy what you can’t find elsewhere! Walk towards the silver jewels market, and then have a look at the traditional clothes boutiques. Stop by the leather market, and pamper your home by taking a carpet, or any interior piece!

Dear visitor,

Visit Jemaa El Fna in the morning and go drink juice from the stands! They are all amazing and they all have fresh fruits, no number is better than the other. Take pictures in the empty area of the square before the food stands start taking over.

Dear visitor,

Visit Jemaa El Fna at night and listen to different groups playing different kinds of music! Take pictures of the many lights mixed with the smoke coming from the food stands!

PS: Being in Marrakesh without visiting Jemaa El Fna is like being in Paris without visiting Eiffel tower!
