CYPRUS / A DAY IN GIRNE
Good Morning, Classy People,
In North Cyprus, the city is called Girne, while in South Cyprus, it is known as Kyrenia. I refer to it as the dreamy city.
It is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited.
Girne is a niche destination that doesn’t seek excessive tourist attention, the visitors who come here are typically sophisticated and classy.
The city boasts a blend of historical and modern architecture, Mediterranean cuisine featuring rich flavors from both Turkish and Greek traditions, a marina where I could spend days relaxing, and a glamorous shopping avenue that feels like a scene from a movie.
My mood while planning to visit Girne was carefree and laid-back.
After an intense semester filled with university work and my blogging commitments, juggling classes, and attending events has been exhausting. Returning to tackle projects and homework, along with writing and posting on my blog, feels like it’s consuming my youth.
Given all this, I decided to embrace a messy look for the trip: wild curly hair, an old t-shirt as a nostalgic nod to my teenage year in the USA, jeans, and my new pink boots.
During my day in Girne, I wanted to forget all my responsibilities and obligations. I sought a day to simply breathe, enjoy walking, listen to music, and savor meals without any work or personal commitments weighing on me.
This city has helped me achieve the relaxation I craved, and those 24 hours felt like a year spent on a blissful holiday on a heavenly, all-inclusive island.
The people of Girne are incredibly kind and always smiling, I truly appreciate the warm, welcoming faces around me.
Witnessing the sunset brought a tinge of sadness as I realized the day was coming to an end, but I felt grateful, Hamdoullilah for the experience and what it offered me as I prepared to return to my routine.
